Wildlife from Wyoming

One of things I found funny when we got to Jackson Hole was an electric sign that warned there was a moose spotted in the area. We saw it all 5 days we were there but never saw it.
There were stores, restaurants etc. using the name Moose but I was yet to see any.
On the way into Yellowstone we saw one far away but you could only see the back end of it.
Finally as we were coming out of Grand Teton National Park near the visitor center we saw this mother and her baby crossing the road. I had Dennis pull into the parking lot so I could get this picture. I was so happy I got to see this and get a picture too.

In Yellowstone later in the day we stopped at the Upper Falls and there was this elk eating away and tons of people taking pictures. I was amazed at how close people were getting after the buffalo incident on the news the week before. Fortunately the zoom lens got this great picture while staying a safe distance.
I got this picture from the van while driving to the Lower falls area of Yellowstone. We saw buffalo multiple times that afternoon. I never realized how unattractive they were up close....

I didn't get to see a bear, but 3 out of 4 animals on my "TO SEE" list isn't too bad.

A Family Vacation

Our family just returned from a wonderful (much needed) vacation to Jackson Hole.
We stayed at a condo there and took in the sites there in Jackson Hole, drove into Yellowstone for the whole day on Wednesday and Grand Teton Nat'l Park on Thursday.
What beautiful country!

4th of July Traditions

It has been a Norman family tradition to go to the canyon or park for a 4th of July breakfast.
We all bring out stoves and food and cook up bacon, eggs and pancakes.
This year since the 4th fell on a Sunday we did our activities on Saturday.
It was actually cool and windy which made it a real challenge to fix and eat breakfast with everything blowing around.

Cole cooked pancakes for awhile and finally got a chance to eat some while Jandie reads her book for something to do.
Aunt Elaine came prepared a was wearing a scarf.

We had the Edwards family BBQ at our house again this year and enjoyed having Karen's family here from California. After we ate the kids all played a game of Croquet.

Then we ate homemade ice cream and had our firework show.

I tried my luck at taking pictures in the dark, which didn't turn out so well, but I did get a few pictures of Lyndie and Nate doing sparklers.
